Prof. Dr. Stefan Vandeweghe
Prof. Dr. Stefan Vandeweghe is a distinguished dental professional who earned his dentistry degree and completed his oral implantology training at Ghent University. In 2010, he obtained his PhD with a thesis focused on the factors influencing bone remodeling around surface-modified implants. Following this, he moved to Malmö, Sweden, where he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Malmö University and practiced clinically at the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry in Folktandvården Lund. In 2012, he returned to Ghent University to continue his academic career as a researcher and teacher, while also establishing a private dental practice in Ghent. His leadership and expertise led to his appointment in 2018 as the head of the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry at Ghent University. He currently teaches courses in direct and indirect reconstructive dentistry, implantology, and digital dentistry. Prof. Vandeweghe is a prolific contributor to the field, with over 60 international publications to his name. He serves on the boards of several scientific journals and is a frequent speaker at international conferences, sharing his knowledge and advancing the field of dentistry globally.
