Dr. Brent Bankhead: For two- and one-half decades, I’ve introduced the possibilities of orthodontics to thousands of patients, while pushing myself to discover, adapt, and apply new technology. As I’ve sought to harness the potential of orthodontic therapeutic appliances, I was recognized by Invisalign with a top 1-percent provider status and have been a key opinion leader in the development of SureSmile lingual and aligner therapy. Through my teaching and consulting, I’ve challenged the profession to venture into new forms of hybrid appliance therapies. I’ve done so while building a thriving practice of eight offices, five doctors, and 50 staff whose mission can be summed up with the phrase: “We Create Possibilities.” I’ve shown that unconventional appliance pairings are often the answer to improved aesthetics, comfort, and efficiency. I advocate for supporting the doctor with enabling technology that can be adaptive, transparent, and or collaborative. This digital space of custom appliances will become a crowded one, but I believe that those that rise to the cause will do so through unifying dentistry versus focusing on limited techniques or therapies. This disruptive state of dentistry is where I want to reside. Technology is our tool. We create the possibilities.
